The body of a 35 year old woman was found yesterday evening in the swimming pool at her home in Arroyo Gragia, Alhaurín de la Torre.
The discovery was made after a teacher of the woman’s daughter alerted a neighbour after a no-show for a school pick-up. The neighbour, in turn, called the police after finding the chalet all locked up.
The body showed various signs of violence, including a blow to the mouth, and last night the former husband of the woman was taken in for questioning. He was later released after making a declaration.
The deceased had made several claims of abuse by her former husband and a 2007 court order prevented him from living in the cottage with her, although no actual restraining order was issued nor was protection afforded to the woman. The husband was granted access to the cottage grounds for the purpose of caring for exotic pets he had been keeping.
