Pedro Galán Redondo, the first democratically mayor of Adamuz, Córdoba, has died in an accident at his farm.
Galán was mayor from 1979 to 1987 and was a highly respected figure in the community. The accident happened yesterday evening as he was working in an olive grove on his farm. As he drove his tractor along the A-3001 linking Adamuz and Villafranca he fell from the vehicle and was trapped underneath. He was 57 years old.
