Nadal gives Federer a thrashing

Rafaek Nadal, unbeaten at Roland Garros, claimed his fourth consecutive French Open title with a comprehensive thrashing of world number one Roger Federer.

Nadal equalled Bjorn Borg’s ‘four in a row’ of 1978-81 with a flawless display against Roger Federer, the score 6-1, 6-3, 6-0. It was Federer’s heaviest defeat in a Grand Slam tournament and Nadal joined Federer as one of only seven players to win a Grand Slam event without dropping a set.

In four years playing at Roland Garros, Rafael Nadal has won all 28 matches and only dropped eight sets in the whole time, showing his dominance on clay courts. On clay, he came into the match with an 8-1 record against the Swiss world numero uno and never really looked under any threat as Federer racked up an amazing 35 unforced errors to Nadal’s seven.

Roger Federer’s ambition to win all four Grand Slam events will just have to wait!
