Frigiliana Council has requested the company responsible for the collection of the rubbish containers to increase their visits to the municipality during the summer.
There have been a number of complaints from local residents saying the containers for paper, packaging and glass are always full during the summer months when the population of Frigiliana increases from 2,500 to 6,000.
The Consorcio Provincial de Residuos Sólidos Urbanos de Málaga (Provincial Consortium for the Collection of Solid Urban Waste) has said it will study the complaints and decide whether to increase the frequency of collection or to install extra containers.
Frigiliana currently has 9 containers for paper (collected every fortnight), 10 for glass (collected every 30 days) and 13 for packaging (collected every week).
