The accidental severing of a fibre optic cable in Vera, Almería, has caused a technology blackout, with no-one in Almería city and the entire district of Almanzora able to make use of landlines, mobiles or internet.
A similar situation has affected landlines in the coastal towns of Motril and Salobreña and left more than a dozen municipalities in Granada without mobile phone coverage, a broken Telefonica cable once again being the cause of the problem.
