Drugs stolen from Carlos Haya hospital

The National Police is investigating the disappearance of over 100 vials of growth hormones from the Carlos Haya Hospital in Málaga.

The drugs, which are only available in hospitals and not in chemists, are worth about €400 per dose, which makes the total value of the theft around €60,000.

A routine check by hospital staff uncovered the discrepancy in the stocks and it is thought that the drugs were stolen in small numbers over a period of time. The only use for the drugs outside of the hospital environment is in the world of sport where a black market for the growth hormones already exists and flourishes.

It is widely believed that these drugs were destined for sale in selected local gyms in Málaga.
