Algorrobo Council has been busy sorting out its municipal fees and taxes for 2009, with the cost of water seeing the largest increase.
The water company Axaragua has increased its charges for supplying the water, which comes from La Viñuela, by some 52%, but the Council has decided to spread this over a three year period with the increase for 2009 being set at 18%.
The Council is, however, proposing to offset some of the increase for certain sections of the community, such as seniors and those with large families, through a series of bonuses.
