Football round-up

The Blue and Whites left it late, but better late than never as they beat Numancia 2-0. Apoño opened the scoring with an 85th minute penalty and Baha added the second a few minutes later.

Valencia are up into second place in La Liga after a 2-1 victory at home to Espanyol. The visitors went ahead after 28 minutes with a goal from Román but, later reduced to ten men after Rufete was given his marching orders, they couldn’t hold out and goals from Albiol and Vicente turned the match around.

Sevilla now occupy third spot after beating Villarreal 1-0, Renato getting the only goal of the match. Villarreal slip down to fourth place.

In Division Two, Salamanca are back at the top after a 3-0 victory over Levante, Gañan, Miku (penalty) and Sergio getting the goals. Xerez slip to second place after being held to a 2-2 draw away to Castellón.

C.D. Nerja are up to third place in the Primera Andaluza Grupo 3 after a 4-0 victory over the division’s whipping boys, Álcala C.F. They are now seven points adrift of second placed El Palo and nine behind the leaders Mancha Real.

Mancha Real were 3-0 winners against Martos C.D. and El Palo were victors over Mijas by the same scoreline, 3-0.
