The price of natural gas and a bottle of gas may be going down as from January 1st, but the cost of electricity is set to head in the opposite direction.
Domestic consumers with a contracted power consumption of between 2kw and 5kw will see their monthly electricity bill rise, on average, by about €1. This increase will affect roughly 25 million households.
The increase, 3.4%, is slightly lower than the proposal (3.5%) put forward by the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Tourism to the National Energy Commission.
The Ministry has the power to revise the electricity tariffs every three months, which means there could be further changes during 2009.
