News on the proposed marina

The proposed marina to be located on the border between Nerja and Torrox is possibly a step closer to becoming a reality.

Both the Mayor of Nerja, José Alberto Armijo, and the Mayor of Torrox, Toñi Claros, have been complaining about the slow progress relating to the environmental impact study for the project, the study having been pending since early last year. The Provincial Department of Environment now says that this will be completed by the summer.

The authorities in both Nerja and Torrox view this project, which will cost an estimated €33 million, as vital for tourism in the area. The marina would have moorings for 500 boats.

Still to be decided is the exact location for this marina, although it seems quite likely that, if approved, it would be at the Vilches beach.
