It didn’t get much media coverage in Europe, but it caused a bit of a stir in America. The question being asked was, ‘Did President Obama bow to the King of Saudi Arabia?’
He certainly didn’t bow to the Queen of England, but many say he bowed to the Saudi monarch. His aides were quick to deny it, saying that the Saudi King is smaller than Obama, hence it could look like a bow.
Watching the video, unless the Saudi monarch is a midget, which he isn’t, or was lying prone on the floor, which is highly unlikely, it was definitely a bow. Unless he dropped something, of course, apart from a(nother) clanger.
One pundit did put forward the plausible theory that maybe he was just ducking in case someone threw a shoe.
