The total number of fatalities on the roads of Spain over the long May Day holiday weekend was 19, with 6 of these being motorcyclists. A further 11 people were seriously injured.
The two main causes of the accidents were ‘distractions’ and ‘excessive speed’. During the month of April, 136 people lost their lives on the roads in Spain, 29 less than during the same month last year.
