The El Chaparil/Verano Azul car park has been under construction for several years now, but an end may be in sight.
Nerja’s second underground car park (and the first one still isn’t finished!) has suffered numerous delays but the final stage of works are now due to be finished within the next few weeks and the current intention is to inaugurate the new facility before the start of the summer season.
At the same time, the Council is preparing to put out to tender the contract to develop the space above the underground car park. The budget for these works is €300,000 and the project is being funded entirely under the Plan de Fomento del Empleo of the Junta de Andalucía.
The completion period has been set at six months. Or, failing that, by January 1st 2010 at the latest. We’ll see.
