Proposed amendments to the start dates for the academic year 2009/2010 in Andalucía caused much protest in schools throughout the region.
The original idea was for a September 7th return to school for the younger pupils as opposed to the existing September 15th. This, however, met with much opposition from the teaching establishment.
Now, after much deliberation, a sort of compromise has been agreed.
Infant and Primary schools will begin on September 10th, and Secondary and Bachillerato will begin on September 15th. This will actually bring the Infant and Primary sections more into line with those in other regions.
