Málaga strike action averted

After a six hour negotiating session between Unions and employers, the threatened strike by hostelry workers in Málaga province has been averted.

Representatives of the CCOO and UGT Unions met yesterday with employers and, after six hours, both sides agreed to extend the current pay agreement for another two years. This, in effect, means an increase in pay of around 3%.

There are still some points to be ironed out but at least there will be no strike at a very important, if not make or break, time for the tourist sector on the Costa del Sol.
