The pilot of a military plane managed to bale out before it crashed to the ground in the sierra de Segura area near the village of Cañada Catena in Jaén province.
The plane, a Mirage fighter, crashed at around 11:15 this morning, the impact causing a fire. The pilot, 30 year old Ángel Gálvez Belmonte, suffered only minor injuries.
The plane was on a training mission and an investigation is underway to determine the cause of the crash.
