The Mayor of Polop de la Marina (Alicante), Juan Cano, arrested the other day in connection with the death of his predecessor, has been remanded in prison without possibility of bail.
The Mayor appeared in court as a defendant in the case of the shooting of former Mayor Alejandro Ponsoda in October 2007.
Appearing before a judge of the Valencian Supreme Court of Justice (TSJCV) in Villajoyosa, Juan Cano exercised his right to remain silent and not make a declaration. He was then duly ordered to prison.
