First flight of A400M set for Friday

The new A400M military transport plane will make its first flight on Friday from the Airbus factory in San Pablo, Sevilla.

This inaugural flight will last about three hours and will be within a 200 to 300 kilometre radius of Sevilla. Giant screens are being placed in all the European Airbus sites so that the 116,000 employees can follow the test flight via satellite. There will be five screens in Sevilla itself.

This first test flight should last around three hours but will depend on weather conditions and performance of the aircraft. There will be two pilots and four engineers on board.
