Lioness holds up traffic

Traffic was disrupted on the A-92 near Loja, Granada, and a section of the road had to be closed for about fifteen minutes after the appearance of a lioness.

The lioness was spotted at km 190 near the service stations of Los Abades and Manzanil (maybe it was hungry!) and several people called the Guardia Civil to report sightings.

SEPRONA officers and officials from the Department of Environment were called to the scene and the lioness was shot with a tranquilizer dart. She was moved to the service station to await the arrival of a cage before being taken to Almuñecar.

A circus in Cádiz has apparently reported one of its lionesses missing. Long way away!
