The first face transplant in Andalucia, and the second in Spain, has been carried out at the Hospital Virgen del Rocío in Sevilla.
Permission for the operation was received from the Commission for Transplants of the National Health Service was received on June 26th.
The first face transplant in Spain took place last August at the Hospital Universitario la Fe in Valencia by a team of surgeons led by Dr Pedro Cavadas.
