A 33 year old resident of Málaga has been arrested after his 16 month old son was found to be suffering from intoxication with cannabis.
The incident occurred in the Garcia Grana area of the city. The parents took their baby to the Hospital Materno Infantil after he displayed symptoms of drowsiness and lightheadedness.
The doctors conducted a urinalysis and discovered that the problem was a result of cannabis poisoning. Under hospital protocol the police were informed and the father stated that the baby had eaten the remains of a cannabis cigarette left in an ashtray in the living room.
The man was charged with dereliction of the inherent duty of care relating to legal custody. The baby was treated and is out of danger and showing progressive signs of improvement.
