A bizarre story from Bangladesh where four people have been arrested for murdering a 26 year old bricklayer on the instructions of the brick-field’s owners.
The owners were apparently unhappy that the brick-field was not producing red enough bricks despite sufficient heating being used in the process. A fortune teller then suggested that the brick-field needed a human sacrifice and the poor man was beheaded by labourers who then burnt his head in a kiln in the belief this would redden their bricks.
Red bricks are in huge demand in Bangladesh’s countryside as the colour is seen as proof the bricks have been baked properly. The police are now looking for the fortune teller and the brick-field owners.
