Torrox Council is asking for a formal and detailed explanation of why the proposed marina will no longer be built on the Nerja-Torrox border at Vilches beach as previously planned.
Despite a favourable environmental impact study, the Department of Coasts has now rejected Vilches as a site for the marina, proposing instead to study locating the facility near the arroyo Frontiles in Nerja. This site was first considered back in 1991.
The change of plan means that all the administrative work, environmental impact studies etc, has to start again from scratch.
Torrox Council are not particularly concerned where the marina is built as long as it is actually built but they would like an explanation as to why the plans were suddenly changed.
