Two house fires in two days in Nerja, one on Friday and one on Saturday night. No-one was injured in the fires but numerous families had to be evacuated from their homes as a precautionary measure.
The first incident happened on Friday night in the basement of a house in calle Dámaso Alonso. Firemen managed to rescue, alive, two dogs who were trapped under a bed on the first floor of the home. The (human) occupants of the house were advised not to return to their home until municipal technicians have had the chance to make a thorough inspection.
The second incident occurred late on Saturday evening in a five-storey block of apartments in calle Antonio Ferrandis. The building was evacuated while firemen worked to extinguish the blaze which was on the third floor. The apartment was damaged but there were no injuries.
After ventilating the block, the residents were allowed to return to their homes.
