Chiringuito proposal in Vélez-Málaga

The Asociación de Empresarios de Playa (AEPLAYA) has presented a proposal to Vélez-Málaga Council for the installation of 26 permanent beach chiringuitos in the municipality, 19 in Torre del Mar and Caleta de Vélez and 7 in Benajarafe and Almayate.

The objective is to improve the beach chiringuitos, making them of standard size and fixed premises capable of opening all year round. The Council will then have the task of negotiating with the Department of Coasts for the appropriate concession, set at 30 years.

Of the 19 chiringuitos in Torre del Mar and Caleta, 15 would be on the sand and 4 on the promenade. All would be 150 square metres, as required by the Department of Coasts, with 100 square metres of basement area. The costs of making the establishments fixed and conforming to standards is estimated at €189,474 each, the cost being borne by the owners or employers.
