Jorge Lorenzo has extended his lead in the championship standings to nine points with victory in the French MotoGP at Le Mans.
Starting from second on the grid, he overhauled Valentino Rossi on lap seven only only to see Rossi to nip back in front. However, the Italian was unable to fight back a second time when Lorenzo went back in front again on lap 10.
In a battle for the final podium place, Andrea Dovizioso passed Dani Pedrosa on the final lap to take third place behind Lorenzo and reigning champion Rossi.
