42 paperless travellers intercepted

At around 21:30 on Thursday night, a suspicious boat was spotted about 35 miles off the Granada coast and Maritime Rescue officers proceeded to intercept.

The boat was carrying 42 people, including a woman and a baby, whose tour operator had obviously forgotten to mention that some form of documentation might be required for entry into Spain as none of them had any sort of papers.

The passengers were escorted to Motril where the Red Cross were on hand to provide a warm welcome and medical assistance if needed. However, all the passengers were apparently in good health and were handed over to the National Police for internment.
