21 gold medals for Nerja

The Nerja Athletics Club came away with 21 medals from the Andalucia Youth Championships held at the San Fernando stadium in Cádiz.

There were 10 golds, 5 silver and 6 bronze medals and Nerja finished top of the medals table.

The golds were for:

  • Women’s 4 x100 relay (Ivison-Blakeman-Bejines-Soto)
  • Sergio Sanz in the 200 metres
  • Maribel Pérez in the 100 metres
  • Samanta Blakeman in the 400 metres
  • Rebeca  Gazzard in the high jump
  • Eva Soto in the long jump
  • Inés Ivison in the pole vault
  • Carolina Sánchez for the javelin, discus and hammer

The silver medals went to:

  • Antonio González in the discus
  • Ángel Antequera in the hammer
  • Julia Campra in the 1500 metres
  • Samanta Blakeman in the 200 metres
  • Eva Soto in the triple jump

There were bronze medals for:

  • Men’s 4×100 relay (Sanz-Dieguez-Gonzalez-Benitez)
  • Gabriel Sáenz in the 800 metres
  • Antonio González in the pole vault
  • Candela Guijarro in the polevault
  • Blanca Velilla in the pole vault
  • Inés Ivison in the triple jump

The next target for these athletes is success in the Spanish Championships for this category, these being held in Nerja next weekend.
