The ‘psychic’ octopus was spot-on, again

Spain played their best football of the World Cup so far, starting with mucho gusto and dominating the play as the Germans sat back and waited for the opportunity to counter-attack. The winning, and only goal of the match, came from a corner in the 73rd minute and it was scored by, of all people, Carlos Pujol.

The Germans came into the match in the second half and forced a couple of saves from Casillas but they failed to capitalise and it’s now Spain who are in the World Cup final for the first time in their history. It was also their first time contesting a semi-final.

It was a highly entertaining, clean game and there were no free kicks until the 25th minute.

Spain now play Holland in the final on Sunday.
