A fire yesterday in the area known as el Higuerón in Benalmádena caused the closure of the A-7 for a while and led to traffic tailbacks of up to ten kilometres.
The affected land was scrub and pine, with the road being used as a helicopter landing area and the firefighters tackled the blaze.
Four helicopters, including one large capacity machine, were used in the operation along with numerous other vehicles.
The traffic system was restored later in the afternoon.
