Prison without bail for suspect in ‘body in river’ case

The Court of Instruction Number 18 in Sevilla has ordered 30-year-old Antonio G.S., arrested in connection with the killing and dismemberment of a 49-year-old American woman, to be detained in custody without bail.

The victim had been reported missing on September 4th and an investigation led police to believe that Antonio G.S., a resident of the Tiro de Línea district of Sevilla, was implicated in her disappearance. A search of his home apparently led to the discovery of sufficient evidence to connect him to a crime.

The body of the woman was then found inside a suitcase in the river Guadalquivir and then later, the head and an arm was found inside a bag along with the personal effects of the woman, an American national.

It was later reported that Antonio G.S. then confessed to killing the woman, cutting her up and throwing her body into the river.
