On Saturday morning, a man aged between 25 years and 30 years set himself on fire near the police courts in Sevilla.
The youth, said to be ‘bitter’, was walking down the street when he took out some petrol from a bag and sprayed it over himself. He then set fire to himself from the hips up and ran about 100 metres before being intercepted by police officers outside the courts.
The police smothered the flames using blankets and the youth was then transferred to the ICU at the Hospital Virgen del Rocío in Sevilla. He has burns to 85% of his body and his condition is said to be ‘very serious’.
As yet there is no indications as to why the man tried to kill himself, although this was apparently not his first suicide attempt.
