24 immingrants intercepted off the coast of Almeria

On Sunday, Marine Rescue and Guardia Civil officers intercepted and rescued a total of twenty-four off the coast of Almeria.

The first boat was spotted at around 10:30 about 59 miles south of Garrucha, Almeria, with eleven passengers on board. A Marine Rescue vessel and Guardia Civil patrol boat proceeded to the area to intercept.

On the way back to Almeria port, a second boat was discovered, this time with thirteen people on board and these, too, were ‘rescued’.

All but one of the 24 passengers, all of North African origin, were elderly men and women.
