According to the latest report by the Ministry of Health, Social Policy and Equality, a total of 64 women have died so far this year at the hands of their partners or former partners, which is 9 more than for the whole of 2009.
Of the total casualties, 25 had made denuncias against their partners or former partners, although 2 later withdrew the complaints.
There were 13 victims who had asked for protection and 10 of these had the protection in place at the time of their deaths.
