In the past week, two boats have been intercepted off the Huelva coast and around seven tons of hashish has been seized.
On June 11th, a Guardia Civil patrol boat spotted a suspicious craft about nine miles off Isla Cristina. After boarding the vessel, the officers discovered 2,130 kilos of hashish. Two people were arrested, a 33 year old man from Granada and a 48 year old man from Almonte, Huelva.
On June 15th, about 13 miles off Punta Umbria, a Guardia Civil patrol boat noticed a fishing boat which was very low in the water as if overladen. On board they found 5,120 kilos of hashish. Four people were arrested on this occasion, three Spanish and one Moroccan.
