Five people were injured on Saturday night, including a child, in a fire at a house in O Carballiño, Ourense.
The fire started at 12:09 in the electricity meter box in the building located in the galería Magariños and the smoke spread throughout the building. A total of 15 people were affected by the smoke, including two police officers.
One of the injured is former socialist Councillor Edelmiro Mateo Prado, aged 74 years, who suffered smoke inhalation and burns to 30% of his body including the face and neck. His wounds are said to be serious.
Also injured was a woman who suffered smoke inhalation and burns to 12% of her body. She is said to be in a ‘stable’ condition in hospital.
