A man who ended up in the Intensive Care Unit of Manresa Hospital after being arrested by the Catalan Police has died.
Sergio E.C., a 34 year old man with 13 outstanding arrest warrants, ended up in hospital on Friday after being arrested by a number of police officers. According to the Catalan police, the man was extremely violent and injured five officers during the arrest.
By contrast, the family of Sergio E.C. claim that he was beaten indiscriminately, resulting in a heart attack which put him in a coma from which he never recovered. The family say he was killed by the Catalan police and they are trying to cover up what they did and have made an official complaint to the magistrate.
According to relatives, Sergio E.C., who was accompanied by his girlfriend, did not resist arrest and after being shackled hand and foot was beaten indiscriminately which caused multiple bruises and cardiac arrest.
