Empty grave in ‘stolen baby’ case

In Monda, Málaga province, a grave supposedly containing the remains of one of the alleged ‘stolen babies’ of the Franco era and beyond has been found to be empty.

The grave contained a coffin and a cross but no biological remains. The mother of the baby remembers that her daughter was born prematurely and she only saw her for a few minutes. Doctors then told her the baby had not survived and she was requested to sign some papers permitting an autopsy.

The family is asking for a full investigation into the case and wants to know if her daughter, whom she named Ana Gema, is still alive. The daughter would now be 28 years old.
