Chelsea striker Fernando Torres, scorer of four goals in 29 matches this season so far, has been dropped from the Spanish squad to play Venezuela in Málaga next Wednesday. It is the first time in five years he has not been picked.
Spanish coach Vicente del Bosque is reported as saying:
Torres is not in good form and we believed in this case it was better if he didn’t come.
Del Bosque said in December that Torres needed to turn his season around to ensure selection for Euro 2012. He is leaving it a bit late!
