Thursday March 8th is International Women’s Day and the Council has arranged a number of events throughout the rest of this month to mark the occasion.
On Wednesday March 7th, there will be a conference at the Hotel Playamaro in Maro from 17:00.
On Thursday March 8th at noon there will be a poetry reading entitled ‘Poniendo voz a palabras de mujeres’ (Putting a voice to women’s words). This takes place at the Municipal Library.
At 13:30 there will be an official ceremony at the Council Plenary Hall culminating in the reading of a manifesto.
At 18:00 at the Nerja Cultural Centre there will be a performance of the play ‘La mujer sola’.
On Sunday March 11th it is the Popular March for Equality which will leave from the Plaza de España at 12:30. At 17:30 will be the screening of the film ‘Sin reservas’ at the Nerja Cultural Centre. Admission is free.
On Sunday March 18th at 17:30, the film ‘Las bordadoras’ will be shown, again with free admission.
Finally, on Thursday March 22nd from 17:00 there will be a conference at the Giner de los Rios Centre entitled ‘Nuevos retos y oportunidades en instituciones de crisis’ .
