Six arrested in connection with September 2011 murder

Six people have been arrested in connection with the death of a woman in Alicante in September 2011.

On September 13th 2011, a gang with climbing gear scaled the walls of a house and broke in. The female occupant of the house, who was sleeping at the time, was bound and gagged. She later died.

The thieves were after a small table, supposedly with a false bottom to hide large sums of money from drug trafficking.

The existence of the table was known to one other person who, due to having build up drug related debts, discussed the matter with a group of fellow prison inmates with a view to committing a robbery once they were released.

The detainees include the three men who actually committed the robbery and, subsequently, murder, the mastermind behind the robbery, the man who supplied the information and an accomplice who concealed evidence.

The arrests were made in Alicante, Santa Pola and Aspe. At one of the addresses, police recovered climbing gear possibly used during the robbery.
