Frigiliana Council looking to reopen car park

Frigiliana Council is once again trying to persuade the bank Banesto to reopen the multi-storey car park with the Council being responsible for the management of the 250 parking spaces available for rotation.

The car park, closed for the past fifteen months, is a five-storey facility built on the hillside by a private developer,  cost €8 million to build and opened in 2008.

However, the developer was unable to meet the mortgage repayments and the bank took it over. Residents who had purchased parking spaces continue to use the car park, each having a key, but it remains closed to the general public.

The Council did manage to persuade the bank to temporarily reopen the facility during the Three Cultures Festival last summer but further requests have so far been ignored.
