After fourteen weeks, the bus strike in Jerez has been called off after the Council decided to take over management of the service.
The responsibility for payments to workers and maintenance of the fleet of buses will remain with the concessionaire who can reclaim the costs via the courts. The Council, however, will take over the decision making.
Outstanding payrolls owed to workers, four months in total, are not being paid at the current time but the return to work is being seen as a vote of confidence. This action will ensure that the buses are running during the upcoming Jerez Horse Fair.
