Dani Pedrosa, starting from pole position, won the Indianapolis MotoGP, closing the gap on compatriot Jorge Lorenzo at the top of the championship standings to 18 points. Lorenzo came home second with Andrea Dovizioso third and Casey Stoner, racing despite having suffered multiple injuries after crashing in qualifying, in fourth.
