The Metropolitan Police has dropped its investigation into alleged ‘inappropriate’ comments by referee Mark Clattenburg towards Chelsea’s John Obi Mikel and Juan Mata, saying there was no evidence an offence was committed during Manchester United’s 3-2 win over Chelsea.
However, although the police state there is no evidence against the referee, the matter is still being pursued by the seemingly much higher legal and judicial authority, namely the Football Association.
