The Council today held a working meeting to coordinate the details for a mock crash to be staged in the tunnel between Nerja and Torrox on November 28th.
The simulated crash will involve three vehicles which will end up burning inside the tunnel and the idea is to test the response of the various entities involved: Guardia Civil, Local Police in Nerja and Torrox, Fire Brigade, Emergency Services, Civil Protection etc.
As a result of this simulation, the cash cow will be closed to traffic from 09:00 to 13:00 and a diversion will be in place via the old N-340 coast road.
November has been chosen for this exercise as it is a relatively quiet month on the roads and will affect fewer motorists than it would in other months throughout the year.
