Villareal beat Valladolid 2-1 on Saturday night with goals from Javi Guerra, after just four minutes play, and a second half strike from Cani. Giovani converted from the penalty spot for Valladolid.
Espanyol cruised past Valencia 3-1 with goals from Postiga, Stuani and Thievy. David López was on target for Valencia.
Elche scored their first points in the top division for 24 years with a 1-1 draw with Real Sociedad. Elche took the lead through Coro after just two minutes and it wasn’t until the 74th minute that Carlos Vela salvaged a point for the Basque side.
