Premio Reina Sofía 2013 for Frigiliana

Frigiliana has been awarded the Premio Reina Sofía 2013 for Universal Accessibility which carries with it a cash prize of €15,000.

The prize is awarded to municipalities which, over a period of at least five years, have carried out continuous improvements relating to accessibility for the physically disabled. The Council plans to spend the money on the installation of a lift in the Tourist Office.

Improvements already undertaken include signs for the blind, deaf and deaf-blind at various monuments in the town, a project undertaken by students from the IES La Rosaleda in Málaga.

The official award ceremony will take place in the first quarter of 2014.
