Two men, aged 30 years, have been arrested after being caught red-handed trying to hang their dog in Linares.
The dog, a pitbull cross, was about ten months old and showed all the signs of having been locked up and maltreated. It was malnourished and dehydrated and needs to gain about ten kilos to reach its optimum weight.
Thanks to rapidintervention by thepolice following reports by concerned residents, the men were caught red-handed. The dog was not microchipped so had there been a delay it would not have been possible to establish ownership of the dog.
The animal is now recovering and is awaiting adoption. According to the vet treating the animal, around 90% of such breeds of dog end up being adopted by overseas residents due to the lack of awareness in Spain relating to such breeds.
