National Police in Elche have arrested a 26-year-old man for allegedly keeping his 22-year-old partner captive in the family home for one year.
Police have also arrested the father of the detainee who, living in the same house, did nothing to assist the captive woman. The detainee allegedly locked the woman in the house each day when he left and also subjected her to physical and sexual abuse, often depriving her of food and drink for several days.
The woman eventually managed to escape and went straight to the National Police.
